The Harvest Forester will be responsible for planning and executing timber harvest operations in accordance with sustainable forestry practices, environmental regulations, and project objectives.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement timber harvest plans based on forest inventory data, stand assessments, and ecological restoration goals.
Coordinate site preparation activities, including road construction, tree marking, and boundary marking, to ensure safe and efficient timber harvest operations.
Oversee all aspects of timber harvest operations, including timber felling, skidding, hauling, and log loading, while adhering to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
Manage contracts with logging contractors and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and timelines.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best management practices during timber harvest operations, including erosion control, water quality protection, and habitat conservation measures.
Monitor timber inventory levels, track log volumes, and maintain accurate records of harvested timber for reporting and analysis purposes.
Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair activities to ensure the safe and efficient operation of logging equipment, vehicles, and machinery.
Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability among harvesting crews, subcontractors, and project stakeholders, and conduct regular safety training sessions and inspections.
Implement quality control measures to ensure the proper handling, processing, and transport of harvested timber to meet industry standards and customer requirements.
