The range listed reflects the entire range and typical placement is entry to mid range.

Pay Rate - $22.65/hour

Position Purpose
The fleet courier coordinates the transportation of City vehicles to and from repair sites, monitors vehicle equipment for police officer safety, and supports Fleet operations through procurement of parts and supplies.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for the transportation of City vehicles from outlying locations to fleet facilities for repair.
  • Responsible for pickup and delivery of parts and supplies from other city locations and organizations in order to support fleet operations.
  • Coordinates police department vehicle repairs within established guidelines.
  • Maintains inventory of police vehicle equipment and generates reports as necessary.
  • Maintains miscellaneous supply inventories.
  • Responsible for repairs of small equipment.
  • Works with fleet staff to determine overall needs of vehicle repair.
  • Reports police vehicle safety issues to fleet and police department staff.
  • Serves as a liaison between police personnel, vendors, and fleet staff.
  • Frequently operates a personal or City-owned motor vehicle to drive to and from work locations throughout the City.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of motor vehicles.
  • High level of safety consciousness.
  • Ability to operate small hand tools.
  • Ability to work in a law enforcement facility.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize time.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information, both verbally and in writing, to support organizational objectives and interact with all levels of personnel within the city in a positive and cooperative manner.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.

Knowledge Skills Abilities Preferred

License & Certification
  • A valid Colorado driver's license and acceptable driving record is required.

Education Degree
  • High School/GED

Education Required
  • Yes

Work Experience Preferred
  • Prior courier experience a plus.

Physical Demands
  • Moderate to considerable physical effort that includes working from ladders in awkward positions. Frequent use of light or medium weight objects (e.g., 25-50 lbs.) and use of medium weight tools.

Hazards
  • Minimal exposure to hazards are typically found in general office environment where there is rarely to no exposure to injury or accident.

Work Environment
  • Exposure to routine office noise and equipment.

The City of Arvada does not offer benefits to temporary and/or seasonal employees. Temporary, Variable Hour and Health Plan Eligible employees will earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum cap of 48 hours.
